Retrospect

I’ve been thinking a lot about and in retrospect lately. It is something like rose colored glasses. I actually have rose colored glassed; they happened to be on sale when I bought a pair of shoes and I did indeed need a new pair of sunglasses. So they were purchased. Speaking from personal experience, things really do look better with a pair of rose colored glasses perched on your nose.

In retrospect, the moments in my life when life seemed impossible were some of the best moments in my life. Many people confuse best with happy or fun or joyous. But best doesn’t have to be all sunshine and roses. Best is also those times where there is death and heartache and change. Truthfully, change is my only constant. I have come to terms with it – no longer is it an enemy to be fought. Change is what forces me to wear rose colored glasses.

Under the Tuscan Sun
Katherine (Lindsay Duncan) says to Frances (Diane Lane): “Terrible ides – don’t you just love those?”

Through the Looking Glass, Lewis Carroll :
Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it half an hour a day. Why, sometimes, I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
